Fully Funded AfDB–Shanghai Ocean University 2026 Scholarship Programmes

The African Development Bank Group and Shanghai Ocean University are excited to announce the opportunity for qualified African individuals to apply for the 2026 SHOU Scholarship Programmes. This initiative, in line with the AfDB’s Ten-Year Strategy (2024–2033), aims to nurture a new generation of African experts who can contribute to enhancing the continent’s capabilities in fisheries, aquaculture, and marine resource management.

Shanghai Ocean University is renowned globally for its expertise in marine science, aquaculture, and ocean governance. Through partnerships with over 40 institutions worldwide, SHOU is at the forefront of promoting sustainable aquatic development and food systems. The African Development Bank Group remains committed to supporting initiatives that build capacity, fostering economic growth and sustainable sectoral development.

– Graduate Programmes: Masters and PhD.

Scholarship Benefits

The scholarship covers full tuition, accommodation, meals, and a monthly stipend. Scholars will have the opportunity to learn from world-class faculty, utilize cutting-edge research facilities, and receive specialized training in marine and aquatic sciences. While successful candidates will be responsible for their flight tickets and visa fees, the program offers a unique opportunity for personal and professional growth.

Eligibility Criteria

• Applicants must be nationals of an African country.
• Applicants must meet SHOU’s academic requirements for the programme they are applying for.
• Applicants should have a strong interest in fisheries, aquaculture, marine science, or related fields.
• Applicants must demonstrate academic excellence and a commitment to contributing to Africa’s blue economy.
• Applicants must be proficient in English, with a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or TOEFL 80.
• Applicants must be able to meet all SHOU rules, regulations, and codes of conduct.
• Applicants must be able to cover the cost of their flights and visa fees if selected.
