The Airtel Africa Foundation University Tech Scholarship is now available, providing a fully funded university education opportunity for 20 exceptional first-year undergraduate students in Uganda who are passionate about technology and innovation.
This scholarship aims to support talented young individuals with great academic potential by removing financial obstacles, allowing them to concentrate on developing skills that will contribute to Africa’s digital advancement and future workforce.
In Africa, the demand for skilled technology professionals is increasing, yet many students face challenges in accessing quality education. The Airtel Africa Foundation Tech Scholarship addresses this issue by assisting students at the beginning of their academic journey.
Focusing on essential technology fields like artificial intelligence, software engineering, and cybersecurity, the scholarship plays a crucial role in enhancing local expertise to boost innovation, digital infrastructure, and job opportunities in Uganda.
Unlike partial scholarships, this program covers tuition fees, accommodation costs, academic materials, and a stipend for core expenses, providing stability throughout the academic year and relieving financial burdens for beneficiaries.
What the Scholarship Covers
Selected students will receive a comprehensive support package, including:

- Accommodation costs

- A fixed stipend to support core course-related expenses

Eligible Courses
The scholarship is open to students admitted into technology-focused degree programmes, including:
- Information Technology (IT)
- Computer Science
- Software Engineering
- Data Science
- Cybersecurity
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Who Can Apply (Eligibility Criteria)
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
- Be a Ugandan national
- Be admitted as a first-year undergraduate into an eligible course
- Have secured admission at one of the participating universities:
- Makerere University
- ISBAT University
- Uganda Christian University
- Mbarara University of Science and Technology
- Kyambogo University
- Not be receiving any other scholarship, including a Government of Uganda Scholarship
- Have obtained at least two principal passes at UACE in one sitting
- Demonstrate strong academic potential
- Come from a financially constrained background and clearly show financial need
