The Oil and Gas Technical Apprentice Programme (OGTAP), a collaboration between OPITO and the ECITB, is renowned for its success in training and developing apprentices in the industry.
Since its establishment in 1999, OGTAP has continued to expand and evolve, offering a valuable learning experience for aspiring technicians while meeting the needs of the oil and gas sector for skilled and motivated workers.
Apprentices enrolled in OGTAP have the opportunity to earn recognized qualifications and receive hands-on training from sponsoring companies.

In order to be eligible for the Oil and Gas Technical Apprentice Programme, applicants must meet the following requirement:
- Have a National Identity Number (NIN) before applying for the OGTAP Scheme. Applicants are to note that they will be required to verify their NIN before proceeding with the application (NIMC verification charges apply). ALSO NOTE THAT MULTIPLE APPLICATIONS WILL LEAD TO AUTOMATIC DISQUALIFICATION.
- Must be 16-35 years of age by May of the year of applying,
- Ordinary Level (O’ Level) WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or NBAIS – either external (GCE) or internal and must have a credit grade C in the following subjects.
- Mathematics
- English
- Physics,
- Chemistry
- One Other
- OGTAP will also consider your application if you have the below qualifications in Engineering, Science, and other related fields.
