Abiodun Olaniyi, the Project Coordinator, emphasized that the annual event aims to position Nigeria as a key player in agriculture across all stages of the value chain, addressing challenges such as post-harvest losses, inefficiencies in input usage, and gaps in distribution.

NIAEXPO 2025 will include sessions dedicated to livestock, finance, organic farming, and agroecology, as well as shining a spotlight on underutilized crops like broccoli, flowers, and moringa.

Olaniyi described the expo as a platform for inclusivity, innovation, and global recognition, highlighting the importance of building capacity, honoring farmers, and giving Nigeria a competitive edge in agriculture as the country moves towards 2030.

Central to this year’s event is the focus on MSMEs. The organizers plan to connect small-scale farmers, agripreneurs, and agro-processors with practical assistance in areas such as product registration, branding, packaging, access to finance, and strategies for entering the market.

Adekunle Adamson, the Regional Project Lead, emphasized inclusivity as a key theme, introducing a Farmers’ Day to celebrate farmers’ contributions and provide them with training to enhance productivity. He also unveiled a Women Entrepreneurship Hub, designed to showcase and support women in agriculture, particularly those involved in rural and subsistence farming, offering guidance in marketing, distribution, and scaling.

Adamson stressed the importance of highlighting the critical role of women in agriculture, especially those from rural and subsistence farming backgrounds, who have often been overlooked.

The three-day expo will feature sessions to build capacity, forums for sharing knowledge, and opportunities for international partnerships. Stakeholders from Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones and delegates from other African countries are expected to participate.
