ROGEAP, Ecobank Partner to Train 50 Solar Energy SMEs in Lagos

ROGEAP and Ecobank Nigeria have joined forces to host a three-day Entrepreneurship Business Training workshop in Lagos, aiming to empower 50 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the solar energy sector. The goal of the training is to provide participants with essential technical, financial, and business management skills necessary for success in the renewable energy market. Topics covered include the structure of ROGEAP, grant opportunities, off-grid solar systems, quality assurance, and strategies for business growth.

Tunde Dawodu, Divisional Head at Ecobank Nigeria, emphasized the bank’s commitment to SME development, recognizing their vital role in job creation and economic growth. He highlighted the importance of supporting SMEs for the benefit of the bank, entrepreneurs, and the nation as a whole. The training aligns with Ecobank’s Ellevate Program and Single Market Trade Hub, offering tailored financial solutions, digital tools, and strategic insights to foster SME growth.

Salamatu Baba, ROGEAP Project Fund Manager, emphasized the long-term impact of the workshop, describing it as an investment in the future of clean energy. By equipping solar entrepreneurs with knowledge, tools, and networks, the initiative aims to create a resilient ecosystem that promotes energy access and job opportunities in underserved communities. A similar training workshopis planned for Abuja, demonstrating the project’s commitment to enhancing clean energy capacity in West Africa.
