UNIPORT Recruitment 2026: Registrar & University Librarian Vacancies

The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has announced vacancies for two senior administrative and leadership positions: Registrar and University Librarian.

These are senior-level university appointments, not entry-level or graduate trainee opportunities. The positions are intended for highly experienced professionals with strong backgrounds in university administration, management, academic librarianship, research and institutional leadership.

1. Vacancy: Registrar

Position: Registrar

Requirements

Candidates for the Registrar position are expected to have:

A good honours degree from a recognised university.
At least 14 years of relevant post-qualification experience.
Experience at the level of Director, or at least five years as a Deputy Registrar.
Relevant experience in an institution of higher learning is preferred.
Higher degree(s) will be an added advantage.
Strong management and leadership experience.
Excellent administrative, communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to work effectively with university management and other stakeholders.

Requirements

Candidates are expected to possess:

A Ph.D. in Library/Information Science from a recognised university.
At least 14 years of relevant post-qualification experience, preferably in a university.
Evidence of significant contribution to knowledge.
A strong record of research and scholarly publications.
Proven management and administrative experience.
Knowledge of modern library operations.
Experience with e-Library platforms and contemporary information services.
Computer/software proficiency.
Registration with the Librarians Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN).
Membership of relevant professional associations where applicable.
