BUA Cement Grants ₦40 Million in Scholarships to 200 Students Across Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara

BUA Cement Sokoto Plant has recently granted scholarships totaling ₦40 million to 200 students hailing from Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara states. This generous act reflects the company’s unwavering dedication to education and community support as part of its corporate social responsibility.

Among the recipients, 50 students were selected from each of the three states, with an additional 50 slots reserved for students from the host community. The allocation of funds sees ₦10 million designated for each state, while another ₦10 million is set aside for students from the host communities.

During the award ceremony, the Managing Director of BUA Cement, Engineer Yusuf Binji, emphasized the importance of education in driving social progress. He highlighted the scholarship program’s goal of assisting deserving students in reaching their academic aspirations and contributing to the development of future human capital.

Binji encouraged the scholarship recipients to remain dedicated to their studies, emphasizing the company’s commitment to monitoring academic performance and ensuring accountability. The scholarship initiative, which commenced in 2019 and has been successfully implemented in 2022 and 2023, involves a rigorous selection process through screening and interviews.

Representatives from Kebbi and Zamfara states expressed their appreciation for BUA Cement’s efforts and pledged continued collaboration to enhance education and community well-being. The Special Adviser to the Sokoto State Governor on Corporate Social Responsibility commended the company’s investment in human development, affirming the state’s support for initiatives that enhance citizens’ welfare.

The Ubandoman of Arkilla, Alhaji Aliyu Hassan, lauded BUA Cement’s scholarship program and urged the company to create more employment opportunities for qualified individuals from Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara states, emphasizing the region’s wealth of skilled manpower.

The ceremony, attended by government officials, BUA Cement management, and traditional leaders from host communities, was hailed as a significant step toward fostering a more educated and empowered society.
