Mandela Washington Fellowship Catalyst Grant:
IREX is thrilled introduces the Mandela Washington Fellowship Catalyst Grant application, a special opportunity for Fellowship Alumni to make a difference! In collaboration with D-Prize, a non-profit organization dedicated to expanding proven technologies to help those in extreme poverty, up to two Fellowship Alumni will be chosen to receive grants of up to $20,000 USD each. This funding will support them in launching a new initiative to spark change and implement a proven poverty intervention in areas affected by extreme poverty.
The Mandela Washington Fellowship Catalyst Grant is open to all Fellowship Alumni, regardless of their background, who are passionate about starting or expanding a social enterprise in communities across Africa.
This grant aims to empower Fellowship Alumni to implement a proven poverty intervention on a larger scale, rather than just testing out a new idea.
The Mandela Washington Fellowship Catalyst Grant offers challenges in various areas such as agriculture, education, energy, health access, livelihoods, and public services. These challenges include providing quality inputs and training to smallholder farmers, teaching basic skills to students in resource-limited classrooms, selling solar lights to households in need, promoting child immunization, supporting individuals to lift themselves out of poverty, distributing reading glasses, improving government transparency, and reducing road fatalities through public transportation safety campaigns.
The application timeline for the Mandela Washington Fellowship Catalyst Grant is as follows:
– Round 1 Application Deadline: November 18, 2024
– Round 1 Decision Notifications and Round 2 Application Invitations: December 2024
– Round 2: Mandela Washington Fellowship Alumni invited to Round 2 will need to submit a plan shortly after the invitation.
– Final Round: Mandela Washington Fellowship Alumni invited to the Final Round will undergo a virtual interview with the selection committee.
– Winning ventures will be announced in March 2025.
