320 NCDMB Graduates Trainees, Builds Technical Skills for Nigeria’s Marine, Energy Sectors
The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) celebrated the graduation of 320 trainees from the second cohort of the Centre for Marine and Offshore Technology Development (CMOTD), emphasizing the importance of nurturing a skilled workforce for Nigeria’s industrial, maritime, oil, and gas sectors.
During the intensive six-month program held at Rivers State University, participants gained hands-on experience in marine, offshore, energy, and technology disciplines.

At the graduation ceremony, NCDMB Executive Secretary, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, expressed the board’s dedication to enhancing local capacity and providing opportunities for Nigerians to actively engage in the country’s industrial and energy sectors.
Ogbe highlighted the practical projects completed by the trainees, such as transformer reconstruction and a mobile boarding platform, showcasing the impact of the program on their skills development.
Encouraging the graduates to apply their knowledge to real-world challenges, Ogbe stressed the importance of adding value to the industry and economy through their expertise.
CMOTD CEO, Engr. Vitalis Ahiakwo, described the center as a hub for innovation and technology, bridging the gap between academia and industry by equipping graduates with industry-ready competencies.
The program covered a wide range of technical areas, including ship design, circular economy, mechanical piping, big data analytics, oil well optimization, transformer repair, welding, and fabrication, preparing graduates for various roles in Nigeria’s industrial value chain.
Ahiakwo urged the graduates to continue learning, collaborate with others, and uphold professional integrity as they embark on their careers in the industry.
The NCDMB’s focus on human capacity development aligns with its local-content mandate, with ongoing training initiatives aimed at enhancing specialized oil and gas skills.
