Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer
Location:Port Harcourt, Rivers
Job Summary
- The role requires deep technical expertise and the capability to function as an Electrical technical authority, providing safety, technical, and project leadership, and compliance with Nigerian and international standards to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective projects and operations
- The Senior Electrical Engineer will support the Principal Electrical Engineer and manage electrical engineering activities across all oil and gas projects and facilities for Projects, including design, installation, commissioning, maintenance, and optimization of electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage electrical scope in FEED, detailed design, and construction, commissioning, and start-up phases.
- May require travel to offshore platforms or remote sites.
- Drive continuous improvement in electrical safety culture and practises.
- Act as Electrical technical authority, providing technical assurance and governance for electrical systems.
- Promote and enforce electrical safety across all phases of engineering and operations.
- Conduct electrical safety risk assessments, participate in HAZOPs, and support the coordination of SAFOPs and preparation of SAFOP reports.
- Ensure compliance with hazardous area classifications (ATEX/IECEx), arc flash protection, and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Support audits, incident investigations, and management of change (MoC) processes related to electrical systems.
- Lead electrical design for power generation, distribution, motor control, and protection systems.
- Ensure quality control and timely delivery of electrical systems.
- Ensure designs meet IEC, IEEE, NEC, and Nigerian standards (e.g., NESIS, DPR, NMDPRA).
- Must be willing to work in challenging environments and comply with safety protocols
- Develop specifications, datasheets, and drawings for electrical equipment and installations.
- Review and approve engineering deliverables, ensuring alignment with company standards and industry best practices.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and supervise contractors during installation and commissioning.

Academic Qualification
- NSE membership and COREN registrable.
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Required Experience:
- Experience with offshore platforms, FPSOs, or onshore terminals is desirable.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in electrical engineering within the oil and gas industry.
Skills & Competencies:
- Intercultural awareness and team integration capabilities.
- Ability to function effectively in a multi-ethnic, multi-disciplinary environment.
- Strong knowledge of power systems, switchgear, transformers, VFDs, UPS, and generators.
- Good leadership, personal relations, and communication skills.
- Personal effectiveness and ability to work and deliver with minimal supervision.
