The Mastercard Foundation BRIDGE-in Agriculture training program 2024 for Ghanaians

At the heart of the initiative known as BRIDGE-in Agriculture (BIA) lies a commitment to nurturing the resilience and potential of entrepreneurs in Ghana’s agricultural sector. Over the course of five years, the Mastercard Foundation-backed program seeks to not only provide affordable capital and technical assistance to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) but also to empower young individuals and women with the skills needed to thrive in the industry.

Facilitating Access to Financial Support

Recognizing the financial challenges faced by aspiring agribusiness owners, BRIDGE-in Agriculture has forged partnerships with commercial banks to offer loans at favorable interest rates. By easing the burden of financing, the program enables these enterprises to expand their operations, create employment opportunities, and contribute to the alleviation of poverty among Ghana’s youth and women.

Tailored Loan Programs

In a bid to cater to the specific needs of Ghanaian agribusinesses, BRIDGE-in Agriculture has collaborated with multiple commercial banks to provide accessible loans. These financial resources are designed to address the barriers that SMEs typically encounter when seeking support. Eligible enterprises span a range of sectors, including primary agriculture, agro-processing, agricultural input supply, agri-technology, and various businesses within the agricultural value chain. By facilitating access to funding, the initiative aims to stimulate job growth and foster economic development within local communities.

Empowering Through Training and Support

In addition to financial assistance, BRIDGE-in Agriculture partners with business development service providers to offer targeted training and technical guidance to agribusiness owners. Through this initiative, young individuals aged 18-35 and SMEs operating in agriculture and related fields can acquire practical skills and knowledge essential for success in the industry. By equipping participants with the tools they need to thrive, the program enhances their prospects for meaningful employment and entrepreneurial achievement.

Unlocking Grant Opportunities

As a further means of supporting aspiring entrepreneurs, BRIDGE-in Agriculture offers participants the chance to qualify for grants of up to GHS27,500. These grants are intended to fuel business growth and empower recipients to transform their innovative ideas into impactful ventures. By providing crucial financial backing, the program aims to catalyze the growth of promising enterprises and drive positive change within Ghana’s agricultural landscape.
