The Mastercard Foundation is dedicated to providing young professionals with limited or no work experience the opportunity to grow and develop their skills as they enter the workforce. This internship program aims to offer valuable learning experiences while also supporting the Foundation’s various programs, operations, and partnerships. By participating in this internship, individuals will gain exposure to the professional world, receive mentorship, and acquire the necessary skills to succeed in future employment or entrepreneurial endeavors.

PROGRAM DETAILS
During the 11-month fixed term internship, participants will work on projects across different teams within the Mastercard Foundation. They will also take part in the Foundation’s onboarding and orientation program, as well as have access to career development resources and e-learning platforms.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be eligible to work in one of the seven African countries where the Mastercard Foundation operates. They should also be actively involved in community projects or extracurricular activities that benefit their local communities. This is a full-time opportunity, and interns are expected to focus solely on their internship responsibilities. Additionally, individuals who are Mastercard Foundation Scholar Alumni should not be currently enrolled in a study program or participating in other Foundation initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ideal candidates for this internship are recent graduates with 0-4 years of experience and a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution. They should have a genuine interest in youth development, social impact, and inclusive growth in Africa. Strong academic performance, practical application of theoretical knowledge, research skills, and effective communication abilities are also essential. Proficiency in MS Office Suite or Google Workspace, as well as the ability to work in diverse, collaborative environments, are key competencies sought in applicants.
FUNCTIONS
Interns will have the opportunity to work in various departments within the Foundation, including Finance, Programs, People & Culture, Office of the CEO, Legal & Compliance, Impact Research and Learning, Public Affairs and Communications, and Digital Data Information and Technology.

The internship is set to begin on January 15, 2026, and will be based in Mastercard Foundation Africa Offices in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Ghana, or Senegal. The program duration is 11 months and non-extendable, with a deadline for applications on the 7th September, 2025.
