What sets the SAGFA Fellowship apart is its focus on providing specialized training in green finance, climate policy, and sustainable industrial development. Initially conducted online for flexibility and accessibility, future editions may incorporate in-person components and industry exposure based on program growth and funding availability.

In a time where Africa is grappling with the impacts of climate change and transitioning industries, expertise in green finance is crucial. This fellowship plays a pivotal role in bridging this knowledge gap by equipping professionals to create, influence, and implement financial strategies that promote climate resilience and low-carbon growth. It aims to cultivate leaders who can go beyond advocacy and actually implement finance-driven solutions.

The ideal candidates for this fellowship include mid- to senior-level professionals in various sectors such as policymakers, researchers, development practitioners, finance, energy, manufacturing, and agribusiness leaders, as well as sustainability and investment officers. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to applying green finance principles within their organizations or national contexts.

Participants in the program can expect a fully funded 8-week virtual fellowship, expert-led sessions, collaborative knowledge exchange between Africa and China, capstone projects addressing country or sector challenges, and access to a network of alumni shaping climate policy in Africa.
