This program is tailored for up-and-coming professionals who are eager to immerse themselves in the world of diplomacy, communication, and policy development within the context of EU-Africa relations.

During this traineeship, you will have the chance to gain hands-on experience in political analysis, media outreach, and strategic communication, all while actively contributing to the EU’s commitment to promoting its values and fostering partnerships with the African Union. This is a unique opportunity to be part of meaningful work that shapes the future of international relations and cooperation between Europe and Africa.
Main Responsibilities
Successful trainees will:
- Support research and political analysis on regional and continental developments for reports, briefings and communication outputs
- Assist with media and public relations activities including drafting newsletters, press releases, social media posts and maintaining media databases.
- Produce digital communication materials such as short videos, social media cards, factsheets, speeches and project highlights.
- Support coordination of the Team Europe Communication Community, including meeting organisation, minutes and follow-up tracking.
- Contribute to the planning and execution of events, preparing summaries and reports.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Currently reside in Ethiopia (due to local health and security conditions)
- Hold a Master’s degree in communication, journalism, political science, international relations, economics, law or related social sciences with proven communication experience
- Have no more than one year of professional work experience
- Be fluent in English
- Demonstrate strong interest in EU and AU politics, governance and development affairs
- Show excellent analytical, writing and communication skills
- Be skilled in audiovisual production and digital design tools (such as Canva)
Traineeship Duration and Benefits
- Up to 6-month traineeship
Based within the Political, Press and Information Section - Expected start date: From November 2025 onward
