The TVET Initiative, spearheaded by the Federal Ministry of Education, aims to empower young Nigerians with practical skills essential for securing employment and starting their own businesses.

By collaborating with certified training centers nationwide, the program provides free training, monthly stipends, and start-up assistance for selected trades in high-demand industries.

What Applicants Will Get

Anyone who gets into the program will benefit from:

  • Free training and certification in their chosen field
  • Starter kits after graduation, such as electrician tools, plumbing kits, or carpentry sets
  • Soft loans and business support in partnership with the Bank of Industry
  • Mentorship from skilled artisans, who will receive N30,000 monthly per student they mentor
  • Training at accredited centres across states, including private institutions and technical colleges

Minister Alausa emphasized that the initiative will follow a structured three-year format, offering training through federal and state institutions with nationally recognized certificates upon completion.

To prevent misuse of the program, the government will utilize geofencing technology and NIN verification to monitor student progress and attendance closely.

All financial support and operational expenses will be managed through the NELFUND platform, which has a proven track record of handling government funding initiatives effectively.

Alausa highlighted the success stories of countries like Germany, China, South Korea, and Singapore, where technical skills have been instrumental in driving industrial development.

Training centers are accessible in all six geopolitical zones, federal and state technical colleges, state-accredited institutions, and registered private vocational centers.
