The University of Winnipeg is proud to offer a variety of scholarship opportunities for international students, with a total funding of $80,000 per year dedicated to supporting these students in their academic pursuits. These scholarships are available for both undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in furthering their education at our institution.

The University of Winnipeg has over 400 courses the popular course areas for undergraduate students are; Arts,  Science, Business, and Economics. Other courses are also available for graduate students.

UofW currently has a national ranking of 40 and a global ranking of 1871. The university has an acceptance rate of 75 percent(75%).

List of Available Scholarships at University of Winnipeg

UofW has different scholarship options available for students. However, these scholarships are categorized into three major groups and they include;

  • Automatic Entrance Awards
  • Application-Required Entrance Awards
  • In-Course Awards for Continuing Students

Automatic Entrance Awards

The automatic entrance award has two scholarship options under this category and they include;

  •  The International Special Entrance Scholarship Program: is a scholarship program that does not require any special application for international students. The UWinnipeg offers this scholarship automatically for all international students admitted into the university for undergraduate studies.
  • Advanced Placement (AP) & International Baccalaureate (IB) Entrance Scholarships: entry into this scholarship is automatic however, the university selects qualified candidates for this scholarship based on final year high school academic performance. To be eligible for this $2,250 you must send your final year high school(secondary school) result to the university.

Requirements for Automatic Entrance Scholarships

  • You must have the equivalent of a Canadian 85% grade average, based on Grade 12 academic courses used for admission. UWinnipeg International Credential Evaluators will complete grade conversions.
  • You must not have previously attended another post-secondary institution other than for dual credit high school/post-secondary courses.
  • You must complete an admission application to UWinnipeg no more than 6 months following high school graduation.
  • You must register and maintain a full-time registration during the academic year.

Application-Required Entrance Awards

Scholarships categories as application required entrance awards are scholarship programs for undergraduate students that require special applications. Unlike the automatic entrance scholarships, candidates for this scholarship must submit a separate application form and meet all requirements for this scholarship category. One of the most popular scholarships under this category is the Winnipeg President’s Scholarship.

University of Winnipeg President Scholarship

The UWinnipeg President scholarship is a $5,000 scholarship program open to international students who have leadership attributes.

Requirements for the University of Winnipeg President Scholarship

  • You must have a minimum 80% admission average or equivalent
  • Be an international student
  • Entering the first year of any program
  • You must demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities
  • You must submit a complete admission application by the scholarship deadline date.

A qualifying year or Pre-Masters students are not qualified to apply

In-Course Awards for Continuing Students

The In-Course Awards is a scholarship option open to current students of UWinnipeg. This scholarship is offered by various departments and students of such departments can submit their application online via the university’s website using their departmental portal.

How to Apply for University of Winnipeg

Applications for University of Winnipeg scholarships are open at various times of the year depending on your resumption time. All interested candidates who wish to apply for a scholarship can do so by applying for admission and then proceeding to submit their scholarship application(if an extra application is needed).
