How to Apply for US Embassy Education Grant Opportunity 2025 ($175,000 fund For Nigerian Undergraduate/Graduates

The United States Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria, through its Public Diplomacy Section, is excited to announce a new opportunity for organizations to support deserving Nigerian students in pursuing higher education in the United States. This project aims to provide guidance and financial assistance to high-achieving students from low-income backgrounds who are seeking undergraduate or graduate opportunities in U.S. institutions.

The focus of this initiative is to work with advising centers and provide crucial support to students throughout the application process. The selected partner will closely collaborate with Education Specialists from the Public Diplomacy Section in Abuja and Lagos to facilitate the 2025-26 Education Advising Program in Nigeria, including the Education USA Opportunity Funds Program. Additionally, the partner will extend support to Standard Advising Centers in Calabar, Jos, Ibadan, and Kano.

To be considered for the US Embassy Higher Education Grant Opportunity, eligible organizations must:

  • Not-for-profit organizations, including think tanks and civil society/non-governmental organizations.
  • Public and private educational institutions.
  • Public international organizations and governmental institutions.

Other Eligibility Requirements

  • All organizations must have a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) issued via SAM.gov as well as a
    valid registration in SAM.gov.
  • Applicants are only allowed to submit one proposal per organization. If more than one proposal is submitted from an organization, all proposals from that institution will be considered ineligible for funding.

Benefits

The US Embassy Education Grant aims to assist 40 high-achieving, low-income Nigerian students who are likely to receive full financial aid from U.S. colleges and universities but lack the resources to cover necessary costs.

Costs covered include;

  • standardized test fees,
  • application fees,
  • airfare,
  • visa fees,
  • SEVIS fees, and
  • settling-in expenses.

The implementing partner will work in collaboration with the Education USA network in Abuja and Lagos to ensure the successful implementation of the program, under the guidance of the Country Education Specialist. This initiative seeks to make a meaningful impact on the lives of Nigerian students by providing them with the necessary support to pursue their academic dreams in the United States.
