Apply for 2025 3MTT Africa Deep Tech Challenge (ADTC)

The Africa Deep Tech Challenge 2025, organized by Future Africa in partnership with Ilorin Tech Hub, CcHub, and IHS, focuses on the theme of Resource-Constrained Computing. This challenge aims to highlight and support the next generation of innovators who are tackling complex problems with limited resources across Africa.

The essence of resource-constrained computing lies in optimizing computational tasks in situations where power, memory, and processing capabilities are restricted, such as in communication devices, sensors, and embedded systems.

But this challenge is not just about technology—it’s about the human journey. We are seeking creators who can not only develop solutions but also share the story of how they navigated Africa’s unique infrastructural challenges.

Participants are encouraged to innovate in various sectors, from agriculture to fintech, education to health, as long as their solutions can thrive in real-world constraints.

Requirement:

What to Build:

The goal is to build a functional prototype that addresses a real-world issue using resource-constrained computing. This could involve low-power solutions, offline capabilities, small-data AI models, efficient edge computing, or any innovative adaptation to limited computing environments.

Your solution can be applied to a wide range of domains, including healthcare, education, smart cities, fintech, climate, entertainment, agriculture, gaming, and more. Let your creativity shine in overcoming constraints and making a positive impact in Africa.

What to Submit:

  • A functional prototype or demo of your solution
  • A comprehensive project report including:
  • Problem definition and context
  • Identified constraints (e.g. power, data, compute, connectivity)
  • Documentation of design alternatives and final decisions
  • Tools used (AI, IoT, etc.) and why they were chosen
  • Performance tests and benchmarks
  • Screenshots or short videos showing your build in action
  • A short video (max 2 minutes) explaining your solution and development journey
  • Updated documentation and video (if part of semi-final or final round)
